Using the brown matte shade, blend the pigment into both the inner third and outer third of the eye, leaving the center open for shimmer. Take a packing brush (or your finger!) into the beige shimmer and add an ethereal twinkle right down the center of the lid. With the excess, add some shine to your inner corners as well.

7. A 6-shade face palette under P1,000? The audacity! This defining face palette from Rude Cosmetics is a need for any beauty enthusiast, as it comes with 3 different contour shades and 3 highlight shades. To achieve Kylie’s natural-looking glow, take a contour shade all over the perimeters of the face and blend them into your hairline. Then, lightly blend some right under the cheekbone, following the natural dip of your bone structure up until it’s vertically aligned with the end of your eyebrow. Take some under the jaw and to the sides of the nose for added definition!

To highlight, take the golden highlight onto a fan brush and lightly sweep onto the cheekbone up to temples. Then, with a very light hand, take the more sheer shade onto the tip of the nose and the nose bridge for an extra pop.

1. Get Kylie’s perfect complexion with this foundation from L’Oreal Paris. This full-coverage foundation is specially designed to precisely match your skin tone, giving you a stunning natural finish while kissing your imperfections goodbye. To use, dot the foundation all over the face and blend using a damp beauty sponge or a makeup brush.

5. For your brows, we recommend another Rude Cosmetics’ fave! This brow pen comes with two sides: one pencil side for outlining and one powder puff side for filling in. With this look on Kylie, her brows lean more towards the natural end, keeping it structured and neat but without the boldness of a carved brow. Brush your brow hairs up with a spoolie, then outline the brows with the pencil end, keeping the inner corners of the brows barer. Then, with the powder end, pat some product onto the brows to fill them in. Finish up by blending away harsh edges with a spoolie.

7. Then comes the killer! This look requires a super precise hand (many kudos to the incredibly talented Anthea Bueno), so make sure you use a liner that’s thin enough to make graphic shapes. The Scandaleyes Micro Eyeliner is perfect because the felt tip is ultra-thin; this will be much easier to create precise, even lines that can be thickened or fixed with ease. After shaking off your nerves, settle yourself down and begin by lining your eye outward, close to the lash line. Flick up as you would with a regular cat eye, then continue up until just after your eye socket. Dip down and follow the natural curve of your eye socket, making sure your line thins out as it reaches your inner corner. Finish off the liner by outlining the bottom of your eye as well, ending just passed the inner corner and in the natural direction of your eye for a little feline flick. Go over any uneven edges, accentuate the wing as needed, and you’re done!

9. Congratulations; you did it! Now, lock in your creation. Though its name may not say it explicitly, this primer water is also excellent at being a setting spray. Spritz this after you’ve finished with your work to prolong the wear of your products, then chuck it in your bag to use again when your makeup needs refreshing.

The year 2020 is officially in full swing, and whether we’re used to filling out the correct dates already or not (I’m still guilty of writing 2019 and crossing it out after), it’s time to seize this new year with all we’ve got. That being said, a fresh revolution around the sun marks the perfect time to explore your style. For days when you’re feeling a little more adventurous with your makeup, this intoxicating multi-colored look rocked by our gorgeous #CalyxtaGirl, Kylie Verzosa, is a playful option that makes sure to turn heads—and make them stay there!

1. Everyone knows that the secret to a lasting base is a good primer. Ellana’s primer is magic in a packet, capable of blurring away large pores and helping control oil production all while helping your makeup cling on longer. To use, simply spread evenly all over the face using your fingers and allow to set before proceeding with foundation.

3. Whether you’re going for a bold eye look or not, it never hurts to put on some eyeshadow primer! Help those pigments stick, prevent unwanted creasing, and bring out the best of their colors with this affordable primer from
Detail Makeover. Simply squeeze a small amount onto your fingertips and apply evenly over the lids.

4. For this look, we’ll need the help of more than one palette. Start off with a light tan shade from this adorable fairy-book-themed palette from Rude Cosmetics. Dust this all over each lid and blend outward as your transition shade, then whip out the Thunderstorm palette from Rimmel. As the look is predominantly yellow, we’ll be packing the yellow across the lid and blending lightly up to the creases. Take the residual pigment onto the sides of your upper nose bridge area (where your nose and eyebrows meet) to help your purple pigment blend more seamlessly later. Take an orange shade from the Rude palette into the crease and lightly blend outward and under the lower lash line. Now, take the purple shade and lightly (LIGHTLY!) run it over the side of your nose to blend up into your brows; don’t be afraid to build color if you feel like you need to! Afterwards, make sure to blend out all the harsh lines, then top off the eye look with a light shimmer on the center of your lids, brow bone, and under your lash line.

6. This find from Rude is the perfect palette for defining the face with ease. First, warm up your complexion with a bronzer shade by blending it onto the perimeters of your face in a “3” shape (make sure to hit the temple, cheekbones, and jawline) then into your hairline for a seamless finish. Then, contour and sculpt out the natural shadows on your face—such as the bridge of your nose, hollows of your cheek, and below the jaw. Finish up with a draped blush, taking it from the cheekbones all the way up to the temples.

3. This look doesn’t go too heavy on the blush, so lightly dust some of this warm peachy shade on the apples of your cheeks and blend gently towards the outer edges of your face. I know it’s hard, but resist the urge to create a drunk flush, ladies!

5. I think it goes without saying that eyeshadow primer is an invaluable part of any makeup maven’s glam kit. Take some product onto your finger and lightly dab it onto your eyelids to help your eyeshadows pack on and stay on with ease.

7. Glowing is what stars do best, and what better way to achieve a superstar glow than with some sparkle? Take a flat brush—emphasis on the FLAT, as you will not be able to do this with anything fluffy or rounded—and moisten it with setting spray to help the brush better pick up product. Then, carefully line your eye shape right under the brow bone and build up as needed. Remember to do this slightly above the crease so the outline can be seen in all angles! Allow the tail ends of your outline to be thinner, creating a more dynamic and seamless appearance.

1. I know what you’re thinking—why would we put setting spray first? But that’s what’s so cool about this product! It’s so multi-purpose that you can use it as a primer, setting spray, and a facial mist all in one. Start the look by spritzing this spray evenly all over the face after applying moisturizer.

3. For this look, Issa’s naturally thick brows are clean and defined—but not filled in too intensely! This eyebrow pencil from Detail Makeover makes it incredibly easy to get just the right amount of definition. It’s easy to be intimidated by a black smoky eye. Many people (myself included) have shied away from black shadows in fear of looking too “mataray” or intense. Mix that with a natural RBF and risk having people cower in fear as I walk by? Hard pass! At least, that’s what I used to think. With an atypical take on the traditional power suit, Issa Pressman proves time and time again that her style knows no limits. Her split-dyed hair, puff-sleeved short blazer, and disjointed pants are a testament to how versatile her looks can be. Equipped with gorgeous features, an abundance of confidence, and an unmatched elegance in front of a camera, we’re convinced that Issa can pull off absolutely anything we’d throw on her! Now, while I know that these things are uniquely Issa and can’t be replicated, we can at least try to cop her makeup look. In this layout, makeup artist, Mikka Marcaida, did an excellent job in bringing out Issa’s naturally beautiful features while giving it that extra pop—a bright purple twinkle on the inner corners of her eyes!

1. Starting off with base: Issa’s monochromatic look brings out the best of her natural features, so to achieve this look, we’re going in with something that isn’t too far from your skin texture. I’m sure you’ve tried a foundation before that looked like cookie dough minus the deliciousness—thick, cakey, and bunches up in all the wrong places. With this foundation from Pink Sugar, you’re getting a lightweight formulation with medium coverage, yet still allows your skin to look like skin. While it doesn’t cover acne completely in one layer, it can be built up for fuller coverage. A word to the wise: blend quickly! While I do love the finish this foundation gives, it does settle quickly on the face, so don’t let it sit out too long. I’d avoid dotting it all over the face, as one would do with other foundations, and instead squeeze some product onto the back of your hand then go in with either stippling or kabuki brush to work the product into skin.

3. This Ellana powder is one of the office favorites; it’s lightweight, pore-filling, and leaves your skin feeling (and looking!) silky smooth. Take some onto a powder brush and swipe evenly across the whole face to set your foundation and concealer. For those looking to brighten further, you may also press some to your undereye area and leave on for a few minutes before swiping off. While the jar is currently being sold separately from the powder refill packs, I do think it’s a great purchase; it’s swiveling top allows you to filter powder back into the container if you’ve tapped out too much. Yay! No product wasted!

4. As a girl who refused to do her brows until her third year of college out of sheer intimidation, I’m always grateful when brands make dummy-proof brow products. The Detail Makeover Make It Pro Starter Pen is the perfect product for those just beginning their downward spiral into makeup; it’s easy to use, applies smoothly, and has a built-in spoolie to boot. Since this look isn’t necessarily brow-heavy, there’s no need for us to map out #InstaBrowsOnFleek. Simply fill in your brows following its natural shape, but leave the front lighter to achieve a soft gradient. With the triangular tip, swipe up gently in short, hair-like strokes, then use the spoolie to gently blend and groom the brows into place.

6. Issa naturally has deep, cat-like eyes—even without makeup. For this look, we’re accentuating the gorgeous shape of her eyes by giving her a soft, smoky brown shadow. Use a lighter tan all over your lid, then define the outer corner of the eyes with the darker brown. Pat on a little of the tan shimmer shade to the center for a gentle faux halo, and take the lighter shimmer shade to the inner corners of your eyes. We’ll get back to the inner corners in the next steps, but for now, let’s add even more definition by taking a bit of the black shade and swiping it around the outer rims of the eyes, concentrating closer to both the upper and lower lash lines.

8. I normally don’t reach for pencil liners (where are my winged liner lovers at?) but since Issa’s look veers away from a polished wing to an edgy, borderline grungey smudge, we’re going out of our comfort zone. Line this soft eyeliner pencil on your upper lash line, then gently smudge upwards. Don’t go too hard though! Our goal is still catty, not raccoon-y! Take a bit onto the outer edge of your lower lash line as well to intensify that deep, almond shape.

10. I know it hurts, but put those MLBBs down, girl! For this look, Issa’s lips are a tan nude—perfectly fit for Chihuahua’s Matte Lipstick in Cinnamon! Lots of people stray away from light brown nudes, as many have the tendency to have an ashy appearance, especially on Filipina skin. With Cinnamon, however, you’ll find a warmer undertone rather than a gray undertone, making it much easier for a wider range of skin tones to wear. Swipe this teeny bullet across your lips and layer up to get it perfectly opaque.

The first time I saw Issa Pressman was at a streetwear brand’s grand opening, and I couldn’t help but notice how cool she was—grooving to DJ Badkiss’ beats as she went around the store with her girlfriend, Marga Bermudez, or simply known as “Marga on the Mic.” I didn’t get the opportunity to see her up-close and talk to her, but luckily, I was able to see Issa the second time around and work with her behind the scenes as Calyxta’s newest cover girl.

1. Start with Heimish’s Artless Glow Base as your primer. Apply a small amount on your fingers and spread it on your face as your base. This primer is good for all skin types, and can hydrate, smoothen, and protect your skin from harmful UV rays with SPF50+.

3. Now, in case you want to cover up those dark circles that seem impossible to hide from those sleepless nights (been there, done that!), why not go for Detail Makeover’s Color Corrector Stick? Their color corrector sticks are easy to use, and addresses problems such as redness, dark circles, and skin dullness. All you have to do is pick the right stick and swipe it on your problem areas! After correcting, use Maybelline’s Age Rewind Eraser (in your shade) and dab on top of the corrected areas.

4. This look is all about a matte finish, and less on the dewy side. The best thing to do is set everything with Milani’s Prep + Set + Go Transparent Face Powder. Not only does it control shine, it also helps minimize pores and provides a natural finish without drying it out!

6. Now we move on to getting natural-looking, bushy brows. We recommend using a Calyxta Crew favorite: La Localita’s Better Brows Brow Gel to brush up your brows. Not only is it proudly local, but the best part is that while it fills in sparse brows, it also helps promote hair growth with its main ingredient: Redensyl, which claims to be better than castor oil!

8. Use the Mustard Yellow Matte shade from Paprika’s Matte and Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette to achieve Issa’s bold yellow look. Be careful not to go overboard, as the eyeshadow palette is highly pigmented.

10. Now, to complete your eye makeup, use La Localita Lash Express Mascara in Black to add volume and length to your lashes. Aside from their brow gel, La Localita’s Lash Express Mascara is definitely a must-try if you want something more than your usual lengthening mascara, since it also helps strengthen and grow your lashes.

12. Finish the look, and set everything with Milani’s Make It Last Setting Spray Prime + Correct + Set. Unlike other setting sprays, it does more by priming and correcting your look, and makes it last for 16 hours with no touchups needed.

For this look, see how these Twiggy-esque lashes framed Janine’s gorgeous hazel eyes and nail this fresh-faced, nude look that’s perfect for everyday wear.

1. Let’s talk base. For those of you who may be unfamiliar, AA stands for Anti-Aging, though in the case of Cathy Doll, this means multiple things: auto aura, anti-acne, and anti-aging all in one! The Cathy Doll AA Cream is a lightweight cream with light to medium coverage that is also built with SPF—a perfect combination to traverse the Philippine heat. While it doesn’t dry down fully matte and leaves a light sheen, it does the job of giving your skin a little Janine Gutierrez glow. It’s also non-greasy and can be applied with your hands, but I’d still suggest patting it in with a beauty sponge as it is a little on the runny side.

3.  Don’t forget to set your base and concealer with some powder! Not only will this mattify any oils, but it will also increase the longevity of your look. We suggest the Chihuahua Cosmetics Powder! It helps control oil throughout the day because of its finely-milled powder formula and is incredibly easy to carry around for touch-ups. Apply all over your face with a powder brush to seal everything in.

4. Janine’s brows are immaculate on their own, but (sadly) not everyone was graced with picture-perfect brows. To make the most of your natural brows and nab this look, try the Sundays the B.U.B Tub—a hybrid between a soap and a gel that adds texture and styles while stimulating hair growth to boot! Take some product onto a spoolie and coat your brows with the product (make sure to get all the hair!) then brush them up for a more natural, messy look. Top it off with your favorite pomade or powder. We recommend the Rimmel London Brow This Way Sculpting Kit for setting and lightly filling in sparse areas. Be sure to go in with a light hand!

6. We love how Janine’s eyeshadow make her eyes pop! For this look, the Detail Makeover Autumn Eyeshadow Palette is perfect for nailing this warm swipe of color. Start off by applying a light beige color all over the lid, then sweeping an orange tone towards the outer edges and the crease. Blend the orange tone upward, then sweep the remaining pigment under the eye. Add some definition by blending a darker shade towards the outer edges as well as under the eye.

8. For blush, we recommend B. by Banila’s Cheer Water Cheek in Girlish Red. Because these tints are light and gel-like, blending and building up pigment to a natural flush is easy-peasy. Dot some on your cheeks and blend out, preferably with your fingers. Add more layers to build up to the desired intensity.

10. To tie in the whole look, finish off with a simple nude lip! Swipe a Beauty by Hodge Podge MNL Tinted Lip Balm closest to your lip’s natural color over your kissers for some comfortable and hydrating pigment.
