Vlogger Fever: 5 Beauty Vloggers and How To Steal Their Looks

Many of us have, at one point or the other, been sucked into a YouTube black hole, where casually clicking a random video can lead to a dozen other clicks on the “Suggested Videos” links so conveniently available on your screen. Personally, nothing quite sucks me in like YouTubing the many beauty gurus who teach us how to achieve flawless looks without having to go to the salon. Watching their transformation from bare-faced to made up fabulousness never ceases to amaze me. They are absolute artists and demonstrate the powerful capabilities of makeup in making any kind of look happen. Here are five of the top vloggers you should obsess about (or probably already are obsessed with) and product suggestions to achieve some of their looks:

1. Michelle Phan

The OG Beauty Vlogger herself, Michelle Phan has been posting makeup tutorials on YouTube since 2007. That was before the word “vlogger” had even been coined! Phan recently went on a self-imposed social media hiatus after going through a rough patch with the pressures of fame, but is now back with a new outlook on beauty. She now aims not just to show people how to look good, but how to make them feel good as well, beyond the superficial.

2. Raiza Contawi

Filipina, represent! This former marketing maven for a tech start up decided to start a beauty blog on the side. She has since transitioned to vlogging when she realized she preferred filming videos over writing. She has since made makeup a full time and thriving career. Her looks work particularly well for chinitas everywhere, showing us how to pull off a variety of looks that complement Southeast Asian features.

3. Nicole Syjuco

Another local favorite, Nicole Syjuco is not only a beauty guru but a sunnies proprietor as well. Her retro looking frames on @shopnicolesyjuco are all the rage, and are the perfect accessory for all those awesome selfies!

4. Manny Mua

Manuel Guttierez aka Many Mua is a YouTube makeup powerhouse who has made his mark in what is an otherwise female-dominated industry. He has earned the privilege of being the first official male endorser for cosmetic giant, Maybelline. He is known breaking makeup boundaries by his bold (and fun!) gender-bending makeup looks.

5. Nikki Tutorials

This Dutch makeup artist extraordinaire rose to viral fame via her “The Power of Makeup” vlog, where she demonstrated the amazing transformational possibilities makeup can bring. She left half her face totally bare, and used the other half as her canvas to show the world the massive difference between a naked face and a made up one. She has also done this half and half look on such superstars like Kim K and Drew Barrymore.
