Acne Danger Zones: Face Mapping Your Zits

Zits are the bane of every girl’s existence. It’s an issue we’d all have preferred to leave in our teenaged years and not have to deal with in adulthood, but alas, some can continue to be a nuisance and pop up to torment us. However, did you know that the location where those pesky pimples appear tells us more about the inner goings on in our bodies? It might not just be a matter of zapping your zit with salicylic acid. Something could be brewing beneath the surface that you may have to address stat. Yes, acne face mapping is a thing. And no matter how annoying zits are, they are worth inspecting closer. Below is a handy table to guide you through the possible meaning behind those blemishes, and what to do about them.

Zones 1, 2, & 3 – FOREHEAD AND BETWEEN THE BROWS

Affected Body Part: Digestive System

Possible Cause: You may have been overindulging in fatty and sugary junk food and alcohol. Also, you aren’t properly hydrated.

What to Do: Reduce sugar and salt intake. Get more of those leafy greens, fruits, and proteins. Ease up on the booze and drink more water!

 

Zones 4, 6, 8, & 10 – THE SIDES OF THE EYES

Affected Body Part: Kidneys

Possible Cause: Your kidneys have been working too hard to process too much caffeine, alcohol, and soda.

What to Do: H20 is the way to go! Get moving and work out to get those toxins out of your system.

Zones 5, 7, & 9 – TIPS AND SIDES OF NOSE + UPPER PART OF LIPS

Affected Body Part: Respiratory System

Possible Cause: Inflamed skin on the nose indicates hypertension. Blackheads on your nose may evolve into pimples.

What to Do: Be a quitter. Quit smoking! Get a facial to deal with those pesky blackheads. Cut down the sodium. Consume more fruits and vegetables.

 

Zones 11 & 13– CHIN AND JAW

Affected Body Part: Hormonal Imbalance

Possible Cause: High stress and hormonal changes (i.e. your period)

What to Do: Get zen. Do yoga. Meditate.

 

Zone 14 – NECK

Affected Body Part: Illness

Possible Cause: Uh-oh, your body may be in battle mode fighting off bacterial infections.

What to Do: Don’t panic! Pop your vitamins. Drink your fluids, and most importantly, get some rest!
