Travel Beauty Kit

By: Amanda Padilla

When the travel bug bites, it bites hard. Never have people been so eager to book their next trip and post it on social media for all their besties to see. Being away from home does not mean that you need to look anything less than picture perfect. Here are some tips on how to build the ultimate beauty travel kit.

Make a mini-kit for the plane ride

The air on a plane has almost no humidity and is extremely drying for the skin. Pack a hand cream and apply it after each time you wash your hands or anytime they start looking wrinkly. Keep a lip balm handy. Bring a sheet face mask and wear it while you watch an on-flight movie; this will make your skin look healthy and dewy by the time you reach your destination. Bring a sample sized fragrance to use right before deplaning. Be sure that all the liquids in your carry-on are under 100 milliliters or 3.4 ounces and kept in a quart-sized zip bag.

Organization is key

A great way to keep your Travel Beauty Kit organized is to divide the items by use. Put all the products you would use in the shower in one pile, things you would use outside the shower (toiletries and skincare items) in another, and one of all the things you need to get ready before going out (hair and makeup items). Place them in zip bags so you can find products you are looking for easily.

Put sample-sized bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, feminine wash, facial wash and your razor in the zip lock bag for shower items. In the toiletry bag, place your toothbrush, toothpaste, oil-based makeup cleanser or makeup removing wipes, contact lenses and solution, deodorant, body moisturizer, more facial sheet masks, serums, moisturizer with SPF and a night cream, sunblock, tweezers.

The last bag should include hair-ties and dry shampoo (a travel must!). Skip foundation and go for a BB cream for an easy way to make your skin look effortlessly flawless. Don’t forget to pack concealer to fight those dark circles from jet lag. Brow pencil, mascara and an eyelash curler are also a must, as well as cheek and lip tint to give you that vacation glow.
