Product Review: Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara

By: Amanda Padilla

Indulge me while I sing Eye of Horus praises. I was turned on to their eyeliners and eyebrow pencils about a year ago. Since then, this is all I’ve used on myself and on my makeup clients. My other liners and pencils have been since ignored. After testing out their mascara for the last month, I am absolutely convinced that this brand can do no wrong.

Eye of Horus gets its name from its natural formulation. Taking from the ancient Egyptians, the brand has committed to creating paraben-free products that use natural waxes and oils. Its perfect for those with brittle lashes, sensitive eyes, contact lens users or anyone wanting to use makeup that isn’t chemical heavy.

If I were stuck on a deserted island and could only bring one cosmetic with me it would be mascara. I am also a bit of a mascara snob and am very picky about what I use. I dare say this is one of the best mascaras I’ve tried. Its consistency is a little thinner than most mascaras which makes it great for lengthening, defining and separating the lashes. Their unique plastic brush made it easy to coat each individual lash, it made my lashes fanned out beautifully. It went on a true black and made my lashes look healthy and shiny. Other mascaras sometime dry up an look a matte charcoal. That doesn’t look pretty on anyone. Mascara smearing is always a problem when you live somewhere so humid but Goddess mascara did not smudge, budge or flake. It also helped keep my curled lashes in place all day.

The best way to apply mascara is to put the brush at the base of the eyelashes, near the roots, then wiggle it side to side. Then pull it out toward the tips of the lashes. Wait for a few minutes until the first coat dries then apply a second coat the same way.
