Day to Night Make Up Looks

By: Xeng Zulueta

My day makeup consists of full eyebrows & sun-kissed skin. I have a full set of brows so I like to play them up & let it frame my face. During the day, I prefer products that multi-task & keep my routine quick, easy & simple.

1. Use a CC cream with SPF as a base.
2. Set the CC cream with a mineral powder foundation. I have two shades of powder: one light and one darker than my skin tone. The light one serves as highlighter & the dark one serves as bronzer and contour.
3. Light powder goes on under the eyes, around the corners of the nose, under the lower lip, between the eyebrows, and eyebrow arch. These are areas which recede. Light powder brings out the sunken areas and gives a wide-eyed and fresh look on my day face.
4. Dark powder goes on the temples, sunken parts of the cheeks to bring out my cheek bones. Sometimes I’ll use the dark powder as a bronzer in place of blush.
5. Dark powder also goes on the eyelid up to the crease. I do this to bring out the contours of my eyes without using any eyeshadow.
6. Apply 3 coats of mascara to each eye.
7. Trace the outline of eyebrows with a liquid eyebrow liner.
8. Brush the eyebrow hairs in place with an eyebrow mascara that’s tinted.
9. With an eyebrow brush blend the eyebrows by brushing in the direction of the hair growth.
10. Finish off with a tinted lip balm.
My night makeup is easy but makes a big impact. I play up the lips with a bold lip color & define the eyes with many coats of mascara on the top and bottom lashes.
1. Blot any excess oil from the day.
2. Light powder to freshen up the under eye, between the eyebrows & around the nose.
3. Dark powder used as blush and contour on the cheeks.
4. Apply a bold lip color such as a bold red with an orange undertone. This works also with fuchsia pinks and deep browns. Any bold lip color will do.
5. Blot and reapply lipstick. I prefer matte lipsticks which stay on longer and require fewer touch ups.
6. Apply six coats of mascara to each top lash line.
7. Apply three coats of mascara to each bottom lash line.
8. Clear eyebrow gel goes on the brows.
Tip: The quickest way to go from day to night is to switch up your lip color. If you prefer a bolder lip during the day, then you can do a pale mouth with defined eyes at night.
