K-Beauty Trends To Obsess Over–And How To Recreate Them!

I have K-Pop to thank for influencing my beauty preferences in life. In my “younger years,” I used to wear eyeliner everyday a la CL and cray colors around my eyes (see T-ara, 4Minute, and BLACKPINK for reference) to the office.

If at this point in your life, you aren’t yet obsessed with K-Dramas, K-Beauty, or K-anything, you should seriously rethink your decisions. Or maybe indulging in this year’s K-Makeup Trends might be a good start!

Simply put, it’s all about defining your brows the natural way. This means filling in the sparse areas by brushing out your eyebrows (instead of drawing in color with a brow powder or pencil) to create a textured look. You can use a brow gel to keep the brushed-out strands in place.

Get literally bright-eyed and ready with a warm orange or bright yellow eye shadow, applied generously on your lids or around the eyes. Bring on the shine by dabbing on a little lip balm or facial oil for a glossy finish.

Like IRL drunken situations, after trying to look tipsy and hung-over with last year’s Igari look, 2018 is all about trying to look like we’ve just been punched. Yes, you read that right. It will make you look youthful and blooming when you’re done, I promise.

On glowing skin, apply blusher on the cheeks and around the eyes. For maximum impact (pun intended), use strong colors such as magenta or bold red.

Put away your plum purples and bold blues for now. They aren’t all that healthy on the lips, anyway.

Instead, try any of these K-approved lip trends:

1) the healthy-looking lip using light pink or peachy tints—whichever is closer to your natural lip color,

2) dramatic lips using stoplight red or orange lips in matte or shine, or

3) ultra-shiny lips using a sultry red or sweet pink gloss.

Now more than ever, we are all after achieving a natural inner glow. You can eat right, exercise, and religiously execute your multi-step skincare routine; or you can mimic the glow-from-within-skin using strobing techniques with skin care products.

In place of a highlighter, you can try using pressed serums instead to add sheen to your cheekbones, temples, and cupid’s bow, for a fresh, dewy look.
