Five foundations to help you get that no-makeup makeup look—stat!
Makeup often enhances what you already have. That being said, it’s still important to adhere to a skin regimen that’ll keep your complexion in check. After all, makeup can only do so much, and the more natural you want your look to be, the less you need to wear.
Stock up on lightweight, hydrating concealers, and apply them in a triangle beneath your eyes, around the edges and center of your nose, across your chin, and on any other red spots or patches. Use concealer to minimize as much redness and discoloration as possible before even adding your liquid foundation.
The only way to get the no-makeup look right is to go for liquid foundations that are ultra-sheer and lightweight. Stay away from anything with the words, “medium” or “full” coverage, and avoid anything with a matte or even semi-matte finish. Sheer foundations are typically light, airy, and allow your skin to show through it, so there’s no way you’ll get the ‘cakey’ makeup look.
Ditch any and all powders.
The goal here is to have dewy, glowing skin so it’s a must to use liquid or cream formulations only. Natural skin has a sheen, and once powders are used, they usually leave a mattifying finishing that isn’t quite like how skin normally is. You need to mimic the light-reflecting characteristics of skin, and this can only be done with liquid formulas.
