Popular Vote: Most Popular Beauty Brands of 2017

These beauty brands totally rocked in 2017!

Rihanna has shattered all sorts of records with her music but recently, after venturing into fashion via sportswear brand Puma, she also launched her own cosmetics line, Fenty Beauty—-a collection composed of highlighters, brushes, blotting powders, foundations, and a kick-ass lip gloss that is sold out everywhere. The line is pretty straightforward and very-Rihanna, which probably explains why it’s such a success. The pop star is known for her ridiculously good looks, and fine eye for what’s hip and happening, and that’s exactly what Fenty Beauty is—a line that’s on-trend, wearable, and most of all, like having a piece of Rihanna’s magic with you.

Kim Kardashian has a whopping 104 million followers on IG, and what Kim says or does almost always becomes viral. Known for her killer bone structure, she’s also a master at contouring, as evidenced by her online videos which feature her going head to head with her trusted makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic. Kim launched her Contour and Highlight Kits last June, and they sold out in three hours! The kit is honestly amazing—the contour and highlight sticks glide on smoothly and blend in effortlessly so you never have to worry about nasty demarcation lines. Definitely a winner in my book!

I discovered Milani during a quick stop at Walgreens while vacationing abroad two years ago, and was pleasantly surprised with its price points and quality. I was ecstatic when I finally saw the products on Calyxta because that meant that I wouldn’t have to order the products via Johnny Air anymore or make it pabili. Milani has a wide variety of makeup essentials but their primers are what they are most famous for. The Prime Light one, P600 is especially amazing because it leaves skin with this lovely sheen and really does manage to minimize the appearance of pores. The Make It Dewy Setting Spray, P650 is another favorite because it keeps makeup in place for hours while letting you sport that youthful dewy glow. Other must-haves are their Baked Blush, P350 and Amore Matte Lip Créme, P350

Glossier‘s backstory is quite the interesting one, as it was founded by Emily Weiss, who first launched her career in editorial a few years ago as Editor-in-Chief of Into The Gloss—a blog that focused on interviewing celebrities like Kim Kardashian, beauty moguls like Bobbi Brown, and models like Karlie Kloss candidly about what beauty products they used. When the blog gained a large following, it was able to collect insights from an engaged community to create products that women actually want—and thus Glossier was born! Some of its most popular products include their Cloud Paint, P1,350, Balm Dotcom, P950, Priming Moisturizer, P1,850, and Haloscope, P1,650!

The Ordinary is an evolving collection of treatments offering familiar and effective clinical technologies. It’s a Canadian brand that was created to celebrate integrity in its most humble and true form, and apart from its incredibly straightforward packaging and powerful formulas, it doesn’t test on animals—which is why they don’t sell their products in mainland China! Some products we love are Buffet, P1,150, Alpha Arbutin 2%+ HA, P800 and High-Adherence Silicone Primer, P540.
