Prep Your Feet for Summer Sandals

By Agoo Bengzon

The scorching heat signals it’s time to bring out those pretty sandals, and hit the beach. But more importantly, it’s also time to have a look at your feet—are they summer-ready or do they need some pampering time before you hit the road? The hot months ahead can take their toll on your skin—especially your feet! Feet are much more prone to skin cracking because they’re subjected to so much abuse like walking and the use of inappropriate footwear like 5-inch stilettos. This is why it’s important to keep your feet hydrated both day and night. Keeping skin hydrated 24/7 ensures that moisture will be kept in, and will render your skin less susceptible to dryness or worse, cracking.

If you’re serious about maintaining gorgeous feet, I suggest adding these 3 P’s to your usual regimen of applying lotion on your feet:

Paraffin Treatment25337813_s2

The heat from a paraffin treatment increases the blood circulation in your body and improves skin tone. In addition, the skin’s pores open a little more, which allows the moisturizing properties to seep into the skin. The result is softer, pliable skin.

Petroleum Jelly

Petroleum jelly acts as an emollient to help soothe severely dry skin. The best way to use this is to apply a generous amount on the soles of your feet, wear socks, and keep the product on overnight. You’ll wake up with unbelievably softer soles, and intensely hydrated skin.

Pedicure

It’s always best to leave it to the professionals. Visit a reputable nail salon at least once every 2-3 weeks to have your nails trimmed, cuticles pushed, and calluses attended to. Also, always bet on red. A blue-red will always be the most flattering color on feet as it brightens your complexion and looks ultra Summer-y cute too!
