How to Prevent Neck Sagging

By Cat Juan Ledesma

We all have one: the aunt who has taken great care to keep the skin of her face taut but forgot about her neck, which now waddles when she talks and is sadly a telltale sign of her age. Neck skin is thinner and oftentimes for sensitive than the skin on your face, it also has fewer pores making it more prone to dryness, stretching, and fine lines. Here are some ways we can slow the hands of time a little.

1. Protect your skin from the sun: Many times, we slather on sunblock only when we plan to be by a pool, but the sun does most of its damage slowly and on a daily basis. Make sure to use an SPF of 30 or higher everyday as part of your beauty regimen. Many BB creams are actually dual purpose and loaded with sunblock as well as pigments. This is a great way to balance out your skin tone while still making sure you’re getting ample sun protection. You can give TARTE AMAZONIAN CLAY BB ILLUMINATING MOISTURIZER BROAD SPECTRUM a try. Also be sure to slather it all the way to the top of your chest.

2. Sweat is the real fountain of youth: If you want to keep your skin healthy, there really is no other way than to devote time in your week to giving it a good sweat through some heart pumping exercise. Sweat cleans pores and keeps skin moisturized. If you devote one hour a day three times a week, it’s really just three hours. Let’s all admit that we spend times 10 times that amount on our phones weekly.

3. Recharge skin at night: Invest in a good night cream that has a cell renewing ingredient like Retinol to make sure that skin is fortified and tightened while you sleep. I like L’OREAL PARIS REVITALIFT DERMALIFT NIGHT CREAM which acts like a thin mask while you sleep locking in all those good for your skin nutrients and making sure your skin looks amazing when you wake up.

4. Slough off dead skin: Since the neck area rarely breaks out and gives us problems, we forget that we need to increase skin cell turnover there just as much as the face. A good scrub like ST. IVES CLEANSER – FRESH SKIN APRICOT can definitely help peel off old, dry skin to reveal younger skin cells below.

5. Prevent aging from within: As much as we slather on creams and scrub away dead skin from outside, it won’t get the results we want if we don’t take care of our skin from within. One way to do this is to be sure to fill our diets with Omega 3 and Vitamin C. Try to eat foods rich in these and top it off with a supplement to guarantee wellness.

6. Give facial muscle exercises a try: If you have the time and patience, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t try some of the facial muscle exercises available.
