L’Oreal has just hopped on this beauty trend, and released their first ever True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation. It promises a fresh natural glow to a new level of luminous coverage.

Our Graphic Artist, Ming Bagaforo, puts this cushion foundation to the test to see if it lives up to its promise of luminous and glowing beauty!

PACKAGING:

Ming: I love the packaging! It looks very classy and luxurious, especially with the touch of rose gold. Upon opening, I was so pleased to find that the sponge has a special flip that serves like a barrier between the product and the sponge – it’s definitely an a-plus in the hygiene department! (In the pic: Here’s me clicking on that cushion just to make sure there’s really product in there!)

SWATCHING:

Ming: I used the Lumi Cushion in shade N2. I swatched it first before applying directly on my face to check if it’s the right shade match. I found out that this shade was bit too light for me!

Ming: So, here’s me trying on the Lumi Cushion in shade N3.5 instead. This definitely matched my skin way better than the N2!

APPLICATION:

Ming: Upon applying, it felt very lightweight! It didn’t feel like it was foundation that I was putting on. Unlike some dewy products that leave a sticky feeling, this one didn’t leave any. For the sponge applicator, it did its job well of packing on and buffing the product onto my skin. It definitely allowed me to play and build on the coverage..

LEFT: WITH & RIGHT: WITHOUT

Ming: In this photo, you can already see the difference from the initial application of the foundation. It was able to conceal the redness of my face – at the same time, evened out my complexion and covered my spots pretty well!

FULL FACE APPLICATION (9AM)

Ming: This was how it looked after applying the cushion foundation on my whole face. It remained true to its promise of dewy and glowing complexion but more importantly it didn’t feel greasy at all. It gave a very natural and healthy look on my skin.

FULL FACE MAKEUP LOOK:

Ming: This photo showed how the foundation looked on my face with the rest of my makeup on. I’d like to point out that I didn’t put any powder on top of my foundation, just so I could really see its effects on its own!

12PM LUNCH TIME UPDATE

3PM MERIENDA UPDATE

Ming: It blended well on my skin as the day went on. And I must say, it gave me that glowing look! But, I ended up blotting at around 3PM since I personally didn’t like the dewy look on me (‘cos it made my face look plumper!). In all fairness, the foundation still stayed intact even after blotting!

THE VERDICT

I recommend this foundation for people with Dry to Combination skin who love that glowing or dewy look. But for girls whose skin type are more on the oily side, if you want to use this foundation, you better use a powder over it if you want to avoid looking like a beautiful disco ball throughout the day.

I love that it didn’t feel like I had foundation on, and it was super easy to apply with the applicator that comes in the packaging! The coverage was also very impressive for a cushion foundation in this price range, it retails at P900. BUT, this price will get better! It’s actually on SALE at Calyxta for only P675 until April 8, Saturday!

This is good for girls who are always on-the-go and always end up doing their makeup in a hurry. It’s also convenient for those who aren’t fans of carrying around foundation brushes/sponges just so they could properly re-apply their makeup throughout the day.

I really wanted to buy this product, but sadly, my oily skin betrayed me. I wish they’ll make one in a matte finish for girls with oily skin (the same skin type as me). I’ll definitely hoard a dozen of those when that day comes! *thumbs up*
