How to wear the Summer colors

It’s time to switch from Fall’s dark and dramatic hues to Summer’s light and fresh shades! The likes of lilac, pink, peach and baby blue complement various skin tones, and, depending on how much you choose to layer on, they can go from barely there to strikingly gorgeous.

Since this season calls for anything pink, we suggest to take advantage of this universally flattering color as it picks up on the natural rosiness that develops on our skin when we’re flushed, been under the sun for a bit or even embarrassed! A lovely way to wear pink is to wear it in a monochromatic manner. This means that you have an overall theme going on for your look—pink lids, lips and blush. For this particular look, we personally prefer going for a just-bitten lip stain because it’s youthful-looking and doesn’t overpower one’s face—especially if you’re already sporting pink on your lids and cheeks. To get you ready for Summer’s pink rush, you can opt to try the L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Matte – Game, Set & Matte, Pop Beauty Permanent Pout Lipstick in Pink Honey and Maybelline Face Studio V-Face Contour Blush in Pink.

Meanwhile, baby blue is a great eye-opener but it’s a tad bit harder to pull off than other summer colors. Powder blue has evolved over the years—it’s no longer chic to wear an opaque and matte shade of blue on your peepers. Instead, we’re seeing lots of sheer and cream-based textures that leave you with a wash of color that’s dreamy, not “clowny” looking. For perfect blue shades to wear this season, you can choose Eye of Horus Goddess Eye Pencil in Lazuli Blue or Pink Sugar’s Eye Candy Eye Shadow Palette.

For those of you with light brown eyes, lilac is the perfect shade for you. It makes the brown in your eyes appear brighter and look more alive. Lilac is also a great hue to wear on lips. Be careful however in choosing the right lilac—anything too pale or chalky-looking has a tendency to make you look sick so opt for ones with a pinkish, not greyish undertone. This season, your best options for wearing lilac would be Ofra’s Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in New Orleans, and L’oreal Paris La Palette Ombre.

Last but not the least shade to wear this Summer to get the most natural glow on your cheeks is peach. We love peach since it goes on naturally because it’s even closer to our skin tone than pink. It’s a great way to add some warmth to your face without looking like you applied any makeup at all. Go for peachy hues in cream formulas as these will glide on like silk on the apples of your cheeks, and will look even better and more natural as the day progresses. Get peachy this season using the Girlactik Blush in Bora Bora and Wet n Wild Megalast Lip Color in Just Peachy.
