How to Rock Pastel Makeup

Pastels are a great way to go soft and feminine with your makeup looks. Here are some tips and tricks to make sure that you don’t look washed out while doing so:

For the eyes:

It’s important to stick to one pastel eye shadow color at a time. Trying to play with too many pastel shades at one time runs the risk of looking like a party mascot. For those with yellow undertones, try blues, greens, and purples to bring your brown eyes. For those with red undertones, try oranges, pinks, and yellows. It’s also important to keep the pastel shadow on the lids. Placing it on the brow bone will have you look like you’re auditioning for Jem and the Holograms.

For the cheeks:

Play with pastel pinks, peach, or even lavender to bring out a rosy springtime flush. Don’t be scared to try a color just by how it looks on the pallet. Your skin’s natural flush has a way of working with the most surprising hues.

For the lips:

Be sure that lips are well exfoliated and moisturized. Pastel colors have a way of accentuating dry parts. Be sure to choose a color that doesn’t make you look pale or your teeth yellow. You can also choose to first coat your lips in concealer to make sure that the original color of the pastel shade is seen.
