The best Oscar looks of all time

Oscar fever is here once more, and while we’re excited to see the beauty looks of our fave ladies, we still can’t get over the timeless appeal of these past Oscar hair and makeup combos.

Halle Berry in 2002

To this day, people still can’t get this look out of their heads. Halle Berry looked every bit like a goddess in this iconic Ellie Saab dress, and was wise to downplay her hair and makeup since the dress itself was already so heavily decorated. Halle sported a pixie haircut that wonderfully highlighted her killer cheekbones. Makeup was natural—she stuck to earthy tones and a glossy nude lip.

Michelle Williams in 2006

This was one of the first moments when people began to take notice not just of Michelle Williams’s superb acting skills but her ability to stun crowds with her impeccable fashion sense. Taking her cue from her canary yellow Vera Wang dress, she chose a disheveled updo and brick red lip to lend an old Hollywood vibe to her look.

Get the look: A red lip lasts longer if you line your puckers first with a deep red like Ofra Lipliner in Savage Red, P395.

Jessica Alba in 2008

Then-pregnant Jessica Alba went for a not-so-common approach to the Oscars: Grecian Chic. While most women go the ultra glamorous route with perfectly coifed ‘dos and smoky eyes or bright red pouts, Jessica opted for a boho look with a lovely braided updo and beautiful bronzy hues that complemented her golden skin tone.

Charlize Theron in 2014

Is there ever a year when Charlize doesn’t kill it? The former model is always a sight to behold—she’s statuesque, knows which makeup hues suit her, and has that rare ability to look good with any hairstyle, long or short. In 2014, she went for fresh hues and a slicked back hairstyle which frankly, looked good from all angles.

Get the look: Work a handful of Toni & Guy Prep Volume Plumping Mousse, P870, into hair so that even if it’s slicked back, it won’t lie too flat.

Lupita Nyong’o in 2014

The Best Actress winner for the movie, Twelve Years a Slave took our breath away with her luminous skin and flawless décolleté. We also couldn’t help but notice how her bejeweled headband lent a whimsical and youthful element to the entire look.

Get the look: Exfoliating regularly with a bath scrub like Soap & Glory Flake Away, P650, will leave you with glowing skin.
