How to Wear Falsies

Falsieslarge

As much as I loved how falsies looked when professional make up artists would place them before a shoot, I used to be deathly afraid of putting them on myself. But I finally decided it was time to learn and discovered that they honestly weren’t as scary as I thought. Here are some tips I can share from my own experience:

Invest in the best false eyelash glue: Even more important than the false eyelash brand is the glue that you use. Your glue can seriously make or break your false eyelash experience. I personally like Duo Eye Lash Glue in transparent, but you can also opt for the dark variety to give your eyes more depth.

Cut the falsies to fit your eye shape: Many falsies are made with a bit of length or a tip to make sure that they fit all eye sizes. You are going to have to be sure to cut off that tail and follow the natural length of your lash line. Try the lashes over yours to see how much to cut. Also note that both your eyes might have slightly different lengths, so do this step for both.

Make your falsies the last step: That means curling your natural lashes, applying mascara and your eye shadow before putting your falsies on. You can of course do some final touches after, but you want to disrupt your falsies as little as possible once they’re in place.

Respect the 30 second rule: Eye lash glue takes time to get to the right consistency for falsie application. Put a generous amount on the lash line of your falsies then wait at least 30 seconds for it to get to the right tackiness. If you apply it too soon, it will just leave a gloppy mess on your lashes. Once your 30 seconds are up, gently place your falsies right above your lash line and press gently. Be sure to let the glue dry properly. If you notice one area isn’t sticking properly or springing out, you can attempt to put a little glue on a brush or cotton wand to gently swipe on the area and press again. If that doesn’t work, you might have to gently pull it off and redo the glue.

Don’t ever pull them off once dry: As much as you might want to yank your falsies off after a long night out, please don’t! Many innocent lashes have been lost by doing this. Gently rub a cleansing oil, eye make up remover, or micellar water along the lash line to soften the glue.
