Manicure and Pedicure Tips We All Love

By: Amanda Padilla

When a girl wants to look good, she gets her hair done. Maybe she puts on a little makeup. But when you see a lady with perfectly polished digits, you know that this is someone who takes care of herself impeccably, someone who cares about the details. Perfect mani-pedi’s are just the thing you need to complete any look. Here are some of my favorite tips.

  • Use a sugar scrub on your hands and feet twice a week to get rid of dead skin cells and smoothen callouses. Use a moisturizer on them after every wash to keep them soft.
  • Keep your nails strong by eating food rich in iron. Brittle nails can also be caused by leave your polish on for too long and not taking a break in between manicures. Allow your nails to breathe.
  • Keep them short. Short polished nails look modern, on-trend and ever so classy.
  • Oval-shaped manicures look flattering on everyone. When it comes to pedicures, stick to a flat shape. It looks cleaner and prevents ingrowns.
  • Bring your personal manicure set to the salon. This way you know the tools are clean. Don’t forget to sanitize them with alcohol after use.
  • Nail polishes last longer if they are sealed tight after each use, so clean the nail polish bottle after every use. Storing polishes in the fridge also extend its shelf life.
  • When doing a DIY mani-pedi, be sure to keep the coats thin. This way it dries faster and goes on smoother.
  • Use a base coat and a top coat. Base coats protect your nails from getting stained by the nail polish. It also acts as a primer – makes your polish stay on longer and prevents chipping. Top coats add an extra seal of protection.
  • The perfect time to catch up on your favorite TV shows is after getting your nails done. It takes a few hours for your polish to dry completely so be sure to pencil in a dew hours of leisure after.
