Hair Pampering Sessions You Can Do at Home

Wouldn’t it be lovely to spend a whole day at the salon after a whole week at work? Most women who don’t like getting naked for a full body massage find that a hair spa can do wonders. You keep your clothes on and yet you get a really relaxing massage. Plus, with a cloud of soft, shiny hair billowing around your stress-free face, you look amazing afterwards!

Unfortunately, with the traffic, the trip alone to the salon can double the stress. So lots of women (like me!) have taken to DIY treatments. I do my own nails, my own facials, my own body scrubs, and even my own hair treatments! Let me share with you the products I use to pamper my tresses.

Products needed:

Clarifying Shampoo

I always start off with a thorough shampoo to wash off the dirt, sweat, oil, and hair product build up. I use my kids’ baby shampoo because it really cleans but it’s gentle on my fine hair.

Scalp Oil

I towel dry my hair gently then massage about a tablespoon or two of oil onto my entire scalp. A massage encourages blood circulation, which means healthier roots. You can use any kind of oil—coconut, argan, extra virgin olive, or jojoba. I use argan oil.

Moisturizing Shampoo

After that lovely scalp massage, I have to shampoo again to wash out all the oil. Note that thicker oil will need maybe two washes. I also like to use shampoo that promises moisture because my fine strands get brittle in the heat of the climate and then the cold of air-conditioned cars and offices. Moisturized hair stand up to the temperature differences better.

Hair Mask

On Hair Pamper Day, I let my hair rest from heat styling. I just let it air dry while I watch shows on Netflix but I do make sure to smooth on a few drops of beauty oil on the ends of my locks to prevent them from splitting. You can use a leave-on conditioner or a hair cream for more nourished hair. After all, hair pampering happens only once a week so indulge your hair with all the nutrients it needs!
