Another month has come and gone, and while I wish that time would tick slower (stay away from me, wrinkles!), a new month only means that we at Calyxta get to start our process of finding new golden nuggets for you all to enjoy all over again! Yay! As October comes to a close, we run down some of our faves of the month—products both new and old that range from scented candles to beauty tools—that we hope you’ll love as much as we do.
I was never one to care about skin care tools much because I never saw the point of them. They were always an added expense to me; after all, why would I buy something my hands could easily do already? But I was pleasantly surprised with this little goodie from Okachi Gliya! It’s a handheld portable facial cleanser with silicon bristles that vibrates—letting you get a deeper cleanse with every wash. It also comes with a metal pad (that has a magnetic ring that lets you clip on a cotton pad for serums and such) that heats up, letting your skin care sink better into your skin. It definitely makes my night-time routine feel much more satisfying and clean—I don’t want to go back to just using my hands now! Definitely something to check out for beauty tool newbies!

I love my colorful crowning glory! It makes me feel confident and creative as a person and so, seeing the colors slowly fade is a misery. Luckily, I found La’dor’s Anti-Yellow Shampoo and I noticed my hair dye was maintained. Also, it revived my frizzy and dull hair. Investing in a hair care like La’dor’s is one thing that I am proud of. After all—nice hair ain’t cheap, and cheap hair ain’t nice!

I’m not a fan of scented candles, but I certainly like the Salted Caramel Candle from Happy Island. We always use this in our office and it boosts everyone’s mood right away! The yummy smell also makes me crave for sweets. I would definitely recommend it to people who love sweet scents.

I was given my own Aesthetique Microdermabrasion Kit when the brand launched a few years ago, and I remember using it every other week to give myself a diamond peel in the comforts of my home. Eventually, I got busy paying attention to other brands and products, and forgot all about it—until I was re-introduced to the device a few months before my wedding! I mainly use it to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells, so that my skin can absorb the rest of my products better. It’s extremely addicting that my face feels soft, smooth, and flawless after each use. I can definitely attribute the current health of my skin to Aesthetique’s Microdermabrasion Device!

I’ve used up a bottle of The Ordinary’s Niacinamide serum once before, and I really loved it then, but moved on to other products after. Recently, I had a major breakout that lasted for a couple weeks after getting sick. Coincidentally, I just repurchased a bottle of this serum, and after only a few days of using it, my acne started calming down. My skin has mostly cleared up since, and I bought another bottle as my backup. I don’t ever want to be without this serum again! Definitely worth the Holy Grail status!

2019 is almost over and yet I’m still obsessed with the drunk blush look. For the longest time, I’ve been on a hunt for the perfect coral-y blush that would suit my skin tone until my colleagues (*coughs*) made me try the Glossier Cloud Paint in Dawn! I’ve only used it a couple of times but boy, do I love it. It’s lightweight, perfect for our tropical weather, and very easy to blend. On my lazy days, I also use it on my lips to give me that Korean monochromatic makeup look!

We often neglect our lips when it comes to doing our skincare routines but they deserve some care, too! When I researched on proper lip care treatments, I came across Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask and I know what you’re thinking: “A mask for your lips?!” I was so intrigued that I gave it a try and haven’t stopped using the product ever since! I slather a generous amount every night and love how it moisturizes and plumps my lips. Because of its hydrating formula, I wake up every morning with smoother and cushiony soft lips! The mask is so good that I sometimes use it as a daytime lip balm!
