She came, she saw, she contoured! Huda Kattan is one of the most influential beauty gurus in the world today, making her mark both online and in the international beauty market. The 32-year-old Middle Eastern beauty and co-founder of Huda Beauty (along with her siblings, Mona and Alya), has a multimillion-dollar beauty empire, a gazillion followers on YouTube and Instagram, and a huge celebrity following, which includes our favorite makeup mavens: The Kardashians. She has been breaking barriers as a powerful Middle Eastern woman in an otherwise male-dominated culture.
She is very proud of her heritage, but also fought against its oppressiveness towards women. For one thing, she is Muslim but has foregone the use of the burka. Her company’s headquarters is also located in Dubai, and she’s a staunch supporter of Middle Eastern Beauty. Her brand however, is not exclusively suited for Middle Eastern women, but caters to all races and faces.
Huda Beauty first broke into the beauty scene with a line of false eyelashes. These Huda Beauty Classic Lashes (P1,380.00) drew intense attention once worn by Kim Kardashian herself. The idea to create falsies came about when Kattan realized there was a void in the beauty industry for high-quality false lashes after she herself couldn’t find ideal falsies to use. The Huda Beauty lashes offer a wide array of falsies of various lengths and thickness that are suitable for all eye shapes. The lashes are 100% cruelty-free and made from synthetic mellow fibers and a cotton band.
After the Huda falsies phenomenon became a hit internationally, the brand expanded to other makeup products, including eyeshadow palettes, stick on nails, and the extremely popular Lip Contour and Lip Matte lippies. The Lip Contours (P1,650.00) are lip pencils that are ideal for thin lips, wide mouths, and unevenly shaped lips. The Liquid Mattes (P1,850.00) are liquid lipsticks with a matte finish that help maintain lip hydration, which is fairly uncommon for matte lipsticks. It’s kiss-proof and has amazing staying power.
