It must be difficult being known as the daughter of a supermodel. For starters, people expect you to be gorgeous. Thankfully for Sam Sadhwani, daughter of model and PR specialist Apples Aberin, that wasn’t a problem at all. This 20-something stunner is the olive-skinned version of her mother — the same facial structure, the same slender physique, the same pixie eyes.

Then people expect you to follow in your mom’s footsteps. So far, Sam has only dabbled in modeling and is perfectly happy doing the occasional gig every now and then. But she did take after her mom when it comes to their shared interest in beauty and fashion.

Sam recently earned her master’s degree in fashion and luxury brand management from the prestigious Istituto Marangoni in Milan. And after a short stint working in beauty as a brand coordinator at Bobbi Brown Philippines, Sam is now flitting back into the arms of the fashion world. She’s joining the team at Love, Candypie (LCP), a private showroom and online shopping site that features a mix of stylish brands not readily available on our shores. “I loooove the clothes and of course the people,” she gushes. “It’s really been a dream job for me.”

 I want to evolve.

The other thing that gets Sam excited these days is the beach. “There’s no place that makes me happier,” she proclaims. “This past year, I tried to plan as many beach trips as I could. I went to Bohol and Siquijor with the greatest company. They were such beautiful places. Next on my list is Siargao!”PAOP9454

When it comes to her beauty and style philosophy, Sam prefers to keep it classic and understated. “Less is more!” she declares, citing Olivia Palermo and Kate Hudson as her style icons. And since she and her mom share the same clothes size — yet another thing they have in common — they regularly raid each other’s closets.

Having so many things in common may cast Sam as a mini-me of her famous mom. But as far as Sam’s concerned, that’s a compliment. “I always looked up to her,” she explains. “More than that, she’s my best friend now, so her thoughts and opinions mean the most to me. In fact, it helps that she’s from the same industry I want to be in. Whenever I need advice in my job, I turn to her.”

Growing up around fashion shows and shoots, already getting to know the industry at such a young age, meeting the people she would most likely collaborate with again in the future — it seems as if the stage has already been set for Sam.

2016 is the year she steps into her own. It’s a similar path and comparisons will always be hard to avoid, but Sam is determined to dance down this path on her own terms — with her own brand of style and her own unique approach to the world. Does this necessarily mean having to reinvent herself? Not so for Sam, who feels quite secure with who she is at the moment. “But I do want to evolve,” she says, adding that growing as a person doesn’t always mean changing who you are at the core.

I’d like to think I’m consistent in being me.

What’s your beauty routine?
I don’t have a strict beautiful routine but I always, always make it a point to wash and moisturise my face everyday.

When do you feel the most beautiful?
I feel most beautiful when I’m at the beach!

What for you is a Calyxta Cover Girl?
A Calyta Cover girl for me just takes pride in being herself. She has fun but also knows how to take care of herself.
