Lipstick Hacks: 5 Ways To Use Lipstick Beyond Your Lips

Lipstick is probably the one beauty product majority of women around the globe own. Even the most low maintenance woman who claims to “hate” makeup probably has a tube of lipstick tucked away somewhere for a special occasion. Heck, it was probably the first beauty product most of us have ever used. How many kids have raided their mom’s makeup drawers and grabbed a tube of lipstick, applied it recklessly on their cute lips, and sashayed in front of the full-length mirror, pretending to be a grown-up? Well, did you know that this iconic cosmetic can be used for things that go beyond your lips? Read on to see how:

Not all of us have the entire contour kit arsenal of a Kardashian. Luckily, a tube of brown, matte lipstick can be used for simple contouring tricks. In one of her makeup tutorial videos, Kim K actually uses this by drawing a figure 3 on each cheek, starting from the center of her forehead, down the side of her face, then beneath her cheekbones but not past the edge of the eye, and then down the side of the bottom half of her face to her chin. When the two 3’s are done, blend away!

We’ve all had that emergency makeup scenario when an impromptu dinner out happens or your crush suddenly shows up at the gym while you’re working out, and of course you just happen to have not brought your entire makeup kit. BUT that one tube of lipstick in your bag can save you from looking like you’re in greyscale and add a pop of color to your cheeks!

Suggested product: Pink Sugar Sugartint Lip & Cheek Tint (P349.00)

It sounds ridiculous at first, but did you know that red and orange lipsticks are actually effective under eye concealers? Dark under eye circles are commonly blue or green in color, and based on the reliable color wheel, red and orange are the opposite of green, therefore works to combat it. Apply a light amount on your under eye circles to assist your regular concealer, then layer the concealer on top of it. Try it and be amazed with the effect.

If you can contour with lipstick, you can highlight with it, too. Grab a frosted lippie and use it like you would a highlighter stick. Swipe it on the bridge of your nose, your cheekbones, your Cupid’s bow, and the tip of your chin. Blend and glow!

Lipstick has been used in tons of horror movies to write horrific messages on bathroom mirrors. Well, that is not quite what we’re suggesting, but given its writing capabilities, how cute and flirty would it be to jot down your phone number with lip liner on a tissue and leave a little kiss mark on the napkin for maximum effect? Or seal a greeting card with a kiss!
