REBONDING

Hair rebonding makes use of a hair straightener and chemicals. A relaxant or softening chemical is used to break the natural bonds of the hair cells then a neutralizing agent is added to rebond it. The hair is sectioned into straight strips and chemicals need some time to set in order to work their magic. The time it takes for chemicals to set will depend on how curly your hair is. The result is stick straight hair, taming even the kinkiest of hairs. The downside however, if not cared for properly, is hair fall or the possibility of frizz to return. Rebonding works best on “virgin” hair or hair that has never undergone any process or treatment.

HAIR RELAXING TREATMENT

Hair relaxing is a permanent treatment, which often makes use of Lye. Lye is also known as sodium hydroxide and has high PH levels, which tend to straighten hair fast. Hair relaxing is also the most affordable and the most common hair straightening procedure. It works best on hair that is wavy and somewhat curly.

BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT or KERATIN HAIR TREATMENT

The Brazilian blowout or Keratin is a hair straightening procedure that actually improves the condition of hair. It is semi-permanent, which keeps hair soft. It works on all kinds of hair, keeps it shiny, bouncy and full of body. It works on processed, permed and damaged hair. If your hair is wavy, it will make your hair straight, and claims to keep frizzy hair manageable and shiny. Formaldehyde is often used to give long-lasting straight hair and then keratin or protein is added to strengthen and keep the hair healthy.
