The Party Hair: Hairstyles to wear to parties without looking OTT

By: Agoo Bengzon

Take it from the pros — Jen Atkin (a fave of the Kardashians and Jenners), Kristin Ess (Lucy Hale’s BFF), and Jenny Cho (she’s on Jennifer Lawrence’s speed dial) are the go-to hairstylists of today’s most in-demand celebs, and it’s easy to see why. They have managed to turn “simple” styles into breathtaking looks that appear glam but never over-the-top. Here are the 3 key hairstyles that these three stylists have been doing lately for their celeb clientele:

The Disheveled Updo

This requires putting your hair up but leaving some pieces in front to fall. There’s no need to blowdry your locks for this style as the more piecey it looks, the better. All you really need is a texturizing product like Toni & Guy’s Sea Salt Spray, and you’re good to go.

The Imperfect Braid

The braid has come a long way since those days we used to wear them as kids to school. Today’s braided styles, as seen in all three IG accounts of Atkin, Ess and Cho show loose braids that lend that boho-chic appeal to any length of hair. So, what’s the key to getting this look right? Refrain from uniformity — you want the look to be organic, like you randomly took sections, and braided them. Spritz some of Toni & Guy’s Flexible Hold Hairspray to keep your braids intact minus the stiffness.

The Extreme Side Part

This may very well be the easiest style to accomplish because all you have to do is throw your hair to the front, and blowdry away. Drying your hair this way will instantly give you volume and texture so that you can gather more to one side. Don’t forget to protect your hair prior to blowdrying—Tressemé’s Hair Treatment Keratin Smooth Heat Activated smells heavenly and will keep your strands frizz free.
