How to Faux a Bob

By: Amanda Padilla

If the thought of chopping your hair off sends you into a state of panic but at the same time you are bored of sporting the same hairstyle everyday, a faux bob might be the answer for you. It gives you a fresh new look without the commitment. And best of all, its super easy to do!

Step 1: Start with clean, freshly washed hair. Use your regular products on it.

Step 2: If your hair is limp, use a blow dryer and round brush to add volume. If your hair already has enough volume as it is, dry your hair then use a flatiron to straighten it.

Step 3: Use hairspray all over your hair to set it. This will make it more manageable when you do step 5.

Step 4: Now that you’re done with the prep work, its time to get started. Section your hair into locks that are around one to two inches in width.

Step 5: Roll the first section inwardly around your finger. Keep rolling it up until you have reached your desired hair length. Secure the hair by using a bobby pin to hold the roll in place.

Step 6: Repeat step 5 on every hair section. Make sure the sections blend in with each other.

Step 7: Clean up and loose ends by tucking them into the rolled up parts of your hair.

Step 8: Spray a final blast of hairspray to make sure that your hair stays in place all day.

Be adventurous with your bob. You can do a straight, blunt, china chop or you can try an angled bob, which is shorter in the back and longer in the front.
