Don’t be embarrassed. You would be shocked at how many people are confused about what their daily skincare routine should look like. I’m here to break it down for you in the simplest possible way. The 3-step skincare system I am recommending is so straightforward that you’ll be feeling like a skincare expert in no time. This method works for everyone – teens and seniors, male and female, on all skin types.

Morning:

  • Cleanse. Start your day with a clean slate and wash the sleep off your face. Use a foaming water-based cleanser. If you have extremely dry skin you could use a tissue-off cleanser. Never use bar soap!
  • Tone. Be sure to use a toner that is alcohol-free no matter what your skin type is. Alcohol is extremely drying on the face and pores go into oil production overload as a reaction to it.
  • Moisturize. Use a moisturizer that has SPF in it. If you have oily skin, pick an oil-free, water-based moisturizer.

Evening:

  • Cleanse. Use an oil-based cleanser to wash the day off. Oil-based cleansers are effective in removing makeup, dirt and facial oil from your skin.
  • Tone. Using toner in the evening helps remove any dirt that stayed on the skin after cleansing. It also helps close the pores.
  • Moisturize. No need to use SPF in the evening. If you have dry skin, you might want to use a thicker moisturizer to help your skin stay hydrated all night long.

Add-ons:

Exfoliate. Use twice a week at night after cleansing your face. Pick a gentle scrub to remove stubborn dead skin cells and reveal new skin. Tone and moisturize after exfoliating.

Mask. Clay masks are great for cleansing pores and drawing out extra oil from the skin. There are so many cotton mask options that target very specific problems. Pick the mask according to your skin concern.
