Real Bride: Marika Anareta-Celdran

What’s the inspiration behind your wedding look? Did you have any hair and makeup pegs?

I made sure my wedding look was as natural as possible, with a touch of bohemian and garden chic. My hair was just down, topped with a flower crown (which was a part of my dream wedding look). I gathered all of my pegs from Pinterest.

Who designed your wedding gown, and how did you come up with the style? How long did it take to create or find the perfect wedding dress?

I already had my dream wedding dress in mind even before I got engaged. (Haha!) I wanted it to be simple but elegant. It was by Daniel Cuneta, one of my family’s trusted designers.

How did you choose your hair and makeup artist?

I met my hair and makeup artist, Geraldine Carlos, during a photoshoot for Metro Weddings magazine, which was perfect, actually! I fell in love with how she made me look, so, I booked her right then and there.

What lip color did you choose for the wedding day?

For my lips, I used NYX Lip Lingerie in Bedtime Flirt. It’s a pretty nude-pink matte liquid lipstick.

What was in your wedding day makeup kit/pouch?

My wedding day makeup pouch included just my lipstick, powder, concealer, mascara, eyelash curler, and false eyelash glue (don’t forget this one if you’re using falsies!) for touch-ups and emergencies.

What were the preparations you did for your skin prior to the wedding day? Did you go to a skincare center regularly? What kind of services did you have done? Is this something you would recommend to other brides-to-be?

A few days before the wedding, I had a facial and had my eyebrows done. I think getting a facial is important so you’ll have a smooth surface for makeup application. Plus, your skin will look clearer, brighter, and glowing.

What was the best beauty advice you received that helped you prepare for your wedding?

Best beauty advice I’ve received: Drink LOTS of water, exercise and get as much (beauty) rest as possible!

How about in terms of fitness? What did you do months before the wedding to stay in shape and make sure your wedding dress fit perfectly? Did you enroll in a gym or fitness center? What was your diet like?

3 months prior to the wedding, I got into a strict high fiber/carbohydrate diet and exercise routine. I did high intensity interval training 3 times a week and low intensity steady state cardio during the days in between. I also tried to stay away from junk food, although I rewarded myself with cheat meals during weekends. Drinking a lot of water helped me as well. I did all the training at home, by myself.

Did you have your nails done? If so, where? Would you recommend this nail salon to others?

I had my nails done in Dashing Diva two days before the wedding.

What was your biggest takeaway from your wedding day? Do you have any beauty-related tips you’d like to share to upcoming brides?

Don’t go overboard with the make-up and hair-styling. I think natural is still the most beautiful.
