Real Bride: Triccy Rivera-Panlilio

What’s the inspiration behind your wedding look? Did you have any hair and makeup pegs?

I have always wanted my wedding look to be simple, dainty, and fresh. I have never really been comfortable with dark shades of makeup so I usually go with neutral or pinkish shades. For my hair, I decided to just leave it down and have soft curls framing my face to achieve a more relaxed look. We finished off my look with a flower crown to match the rustic boho theme of the wedding.

Who designed your wedding gown, and how did you come up with the style? How long did it take to create or find the perfect wedding dress?

My wedding gown was design and created by Teena Sabrina Tan. We got her previously for my sister’s wedding and we were so happy with how our dresses turned out. She also specializes in boho wedding gowns, which was a huge plus. I knew then that I wanted her to do my own wedding gown. I showed her several pegs and she came up with a customized design that suited my personality and style. It had lace appliqués, embossed flowers, flowy butterfly sleeves, lots of tulle, and was finished off with an obi belt.

What were the preparations you did for your skin prior to the wedding day? Did you go to a skincare center regularly? What kind of services did you have done? Is this something you would recommend to other brides-to-be?

I just made sure to moisturize twice a day and apply lots of sunscreen to protect my skin. I also used a face mask at least twice a week a few months before my wedding. Of course, I made it a point to drink enough water to help my skin stay hydrated.

What was the best beauty advice you received that helped you prepare for your wedding?

The best beauty advice that I received was to just relax and not worry too much about the little details. It helped me to keep things in perspective and allowed me to fully enjoy my wedding preparations. This saved me from a great deal of stress, which in turn enabled me to get enough rest and sleep. All these are very much essential in achieving that radiant and blooming look on your wedding day.

How did you choose your hair and makeup artist?

My makeup artist for the wedding was Ara Fernando. I chose Ara because we’ve known each other for quite some time and she has done my makeup for several occasions already. She knew the type of look that I wanted and how to further enhance my features. I had so much confidence in her that we didn’t even have a trial makeup before the wedding.

What lip color did you choose for the wedding day?

We chose a pinkish shade of lip color to achieve the natural feminine look that I wanted. The shade we chose also matched perfectly the flowers in my flower crown, which helped in creating a more unified look.

What was in your wedding day makeup kit/pouch?

Just my phone, facial tissue and lip balm. Since my MUA used Mistair Airbrush Makeup, I knew I didn’t have to worry about bringing my own stuff for touch-ups.  We only had a quick retouch before the reception and my makeup lasted the whole night already. Super worth it!

How about in terms of fitness? What did you do months before the wedding to stay in shape and make sure your wedding dress fit perfectly? Did you enroll in a gym or fitness center? What was your diet like?

I knew that I had to exercise in order to stay in shape for my wedding. I wasn’t really a fan of gym workouts so I decided to look for other ways to burn those carbs. My friend introduced me to Barre 3 and I was hooked! Aside from my weekly sessions of Barre 3, I also took Zumba classes and reduced my intake of sweets.

Did you have your nails done? If so, where? Would you recommend this nail salon to others?

Yes, I did! I wanted freshly manicured nails for my wedding but since it was going to be all the way in Baguio, I had to look for a reputable nail salon in that area. Good thing there was a Posh Nails Salon in SM Baguio and I was able to get a gel manicure and pedicure.

What was your biggest takeaway from your wedding day? Do you have any beauty-related tips you’d like to share to upcoming brides?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. At the end of the day, people won’t really remember the little details of your wedding. Instead, what they will remember the most is that look of love on a beautiful and glowing bride, as you walk down the aisle towards the man of your dreams.

And since your wedding look will forever be immortalized through pictures and videos, my best beauty tip is to take extra care of your skin. Drink plenty of water, eat healthy and get enough sleep. The key to natural glowing skin starts with good skin care and preparation. Healthy skin is always the best base for any type of makeup.
