Real Bride: Mary Joy Enriquez-Soliman

What’s the inspiration behind your wedding look? Did you have any hair and makeup pegs?

It was always my dream to have a fairytale wedding. It perfectly fits my wedding’s venue, too—which is the Grand Palazzo Royale, since it really has that royal vibe to it. And so, a tiara was added to my look to achieve my princess-themed wedding.

Who designed your wedding gown, and how did you come up with the style? How long did it take to create or find the perfect wedding dress?

Finding the perfect wedding dress required a certain magical feeling, emotion, and lots of prayers. Hahaha! Thank God, I found him. One of the best designers in the Philippines – Mak Tumang. He makes the most beautiful wedding dresses.  I wanted a princess cut kind of gown and he really exceeded my expectations. It took six months for the dress to look perfect.

How did you choose your hair and makeup artist?

Mariah Camaya Santos was referred to me by my friends and she has really good reviews from all the brides she’s worked with.

What lip color did you choose for the wedding day?

Mariah retouched my lipstick throughout the day. But from what I remember, it was like an old rose or a magenta shade.

What was in your wedding day makeup kit/pouch?

My BB cream, lipstick, blush on, etc.

What were the preparations you did for your skin prior to the wedding day? Did you go to a skincare center regularly? What kind of services did you have done? Is this something you would recommend to other brides-to-be?

To be honest, I would’ve loved to go on a regular facial before the wedding. But for some reason, it just didn’t fit my schedule. I recommend really finding the time to pamper your skin before the special day.

What was the best beauty advice you received that helped you prepare for your wedding?

Always hydrate your skin. Hydrate your body. I also did facial exercises for my face—in the hopes of it looking thinner on the big day. Haha!

How about in terms of fitness? What did you do months before the wedding to stay in shape and make sure your wedding dress fit perfectly? Did you enroll in a gym or fitness center? What was your diet like?

I was chubby before we got engaged. So, months before the wedding, I really had to push myself. As hard as it was for me to go on a diet, I had to do it. I went to the gym, and enrolled myself to Zumba classes. My breakfast, sometimes lunch, were oatmeal and fruits. No rice. Strictly salads for dinner. But I did have my cheat days, too.

Did you have your nails done? If so, where? Would you recommend this nail salon to others?

Yes, I had my nails done. Nails Glow is one of the recommended nail salons in Pampanga, so that’s where I went.

What was your biggest takeaway from your wedding day? Do you have any beauty-related tips you’d like to share to upcoming brides?

For soon-to-be brides, it is very important not to stress yourself too much just to look beautiful on your wedding day. The secret is just to be happy and grateful on that day. Beauty will glow from within because people will see the love you have for the person you are going to marry—the man of your dreams. Seize the moment and everything will follow. ️
