At first glance, Ofra’s Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Americano looks a bit too brown. Thankfully, I was taught at an early age never to judge a book by its cover, or in this case a lip color by its transparent tube! I took a chance and swiped this seemingly chocolate brown shade on my lips, and let it settle. Lo and behold, the “too brown” shade in the tube transformed into the most beautiful red brown when applied. It is a color reminiscent of the nineties, when everyone had that flat brown shade, but this time, a more modern take that looks less angsty and more chic.
No need to keep this color on the grunge side of the spectrum, because it can look elegant and grown up as well. When I posted a picture of myself wearing this, I got text messages from friends asking excitedly what lip color I used. Although it has a matte finish, it’s formulation is a bit less thick and goopy than some other products and leaves a thin shine-free layer on your lips that is none drying so no more chapped, peeling lips!
If you are wondering where to wear this shade, I would immediately say “everywhere!” But for more specific occasions, you can swipe some on right before a big meeting to feel like a power woman, on a first date because it is oh-so-sexy without being over the top, or even on a day you have nothing to do but run errands because it makes everyone I know feel prettier when they wear it. On days you want something less obvious, you can top it with more neutral liquid lipstick shades, namely Mocha or Pasadena. And for days you want to draw more attention to yourself, start off with Atlantic City, a bright red, before finishing off with Americano.
