Real Bride: Marielle Misalucha-Maroket

What was in your wedding day makeup kit/pouch?

I didn’t have anything with me other than my bouquet, but I did have one of my bridesmaids keep the lipstick for me. It was the only retouch I needed. My makeup practically lasted forever—even if I sweat a lot shooting outdoors.

What were the preparations you did for your skin prior to the wedding day? Did you go to a skincare center regularly? What kind of services did you have done? Is this something you would recommend to other brides-to-be?

I didn’t do anything special. I think keeping a daily skin care routine far before the wedding can suffice: cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and drinking lots of water first thing in the morning and before going to bed.

What was the best beauty advice you received that helped you prepare for your wedding?

The smartest advice I’ve gotten was to keep everything classy and natural. No drastic hair color changes, dark makeup, or faddish wedding dresses. I’m not one to make crazy choices, but I did try to keep it simple. Trends come and go, and photos are forever. So, make sure you don’t regret your choices when you look back in 20 years.

What’s the inspiration behind your wedding look? Did you have any hair and makeup pegs?

Kate Middleton on her wedding day was perfect. I was all about the natural make up, hair down look. Also took cue from Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf with the bridal headband.

Who designed your wedding gown, and how did you come up with the style? How long did it take to create or find the perfect wedding dress?

I knew what I already wanted so I hired a seamstress and designed my own dress. I mainly took inspiration from the series, Reign. It’s ironic that I’ve never seen an episode. But from teasers and photos, I thought the wardrobe was everything—most especially Mary’s wedding dress. It was modest, elegant, and lacey; it was exactly what I was looking for.

How did you choose your hair and makeup artist?

My friend happens to be Kristine Reyes’ younger sister-in-law, who recommended one of the actress’ makeup artists to me.

What lip color did you choose for the wedding day?

I wanted to look as natural as possible and make my lips look bright but not too made up. So, I had the MUA use a frosted nude lipstick from The Body Shop that I already had.

How about in terms of fitness? What did you do months before the wedding to stay in shape and make sure your wedding dress fit perfectly? Did you enroll in a gym or fitness center? What was your diet like?

I think I hardly worked out before my wedding day. Although I did use to be pescatarian, so I just stuck to my diet and controlled portions.

Did you have your nails done? If so, where? Would you recommend this nail salon to others?

I had my nails done at Nue Nails just near where I lived. Yes, I’d definitely recommend them. The staff are skilled, friendly, and accommodating, and the place is really nice and clean.

What was your biggest takeaway from your wedding day? Do you have any beauty-related tips you’d like to share to upcoming brides?

Relax. Go with the flow. There’s no point in troubling yourself with perfection if it’s going to keep you from enjoying your own wedding day. Besides, no one else is going to notice those tiny details but you.
