Nowadays, you can find a makeup look for just about anything! Recreating your favorite early 2000s doll? Check. Channeling the famed Korean “glass skin” effect? You bet. Beauty gurus love to make art out of the current season’s trends, and we couldn’t be more thankful for the influx of stunning new looks we’ve been seeing with summer drawing closer and closer. Last year gave us peachy tones, the viral “drunk blush” flush, and of course, the dawn of the “no makeup” make up look, so you can bet that Summer 2019 is coming in even stronger with brand new trends!
1. Gloss
It’s no secret that the 90s and early 2000s are making a major comeback in both the fashion and beauty scene. Glossy looks you might have seen on your favorite supermodel’s paparazzi shots back then will find its rebirth in today’s celebrity Instagram shots.
2. Stained Lips
Gone are the days when makeup brands scramble to create matte lippies to keep up with the fanfare for Kylie Jenner’s famed Lip Kit. Now, it’s all about the kiss-bitten, stained look. This is one of my favorite trends because it reminds me of summer days as a child, when a cherry-flavored lollipop would mark our lips after hours of sucking on it under the sun. What better way to channel the good ole’ days than with a lippie look that resembles it?
3. No IG brows
Anyone who was on Instagram from 2016 onwards knows exactly what the infamous “IG brows” look like. But for those who haven’t quite caught on, these brows are characterized by well-defined arches, heavy color, and a regressing fade effect. By summertime, this trend would have officially run its full course, with the rise of the natural, well-kempt brow making an entrance.
4. Underliner
Yet another homage to the pre-2000s, the underliner trend will be the go-to for all those late nights with the gal pals. It’s subdued enough not to look over the top, but it has enough of an impact to really accentuate your eyes.
5. Clumpy Mascara
First popularized by Twiggy in the 60s, “messily” applying mascara to both the top and bottom lashes instantly widen your gaze while portraying an edgy yet easy-going feel to the look. Although keeping bare-faced will always be in-style for the summer season, this mascara trend will be your best friend for all those glam emergencies.
6. Statement Lip
2018 saw the rise of clean and fresh makeup, but this 2019, summer will be full of makeup enthusiasts and gurus alike getting creative with their color schemes. Nude is no longer the only option for a night out. In fact, the bolder the color, the better.
