Color Connection: How to Mix and Match Nail Colors

The right way to mix and match your nail colors using Girlstuff’s amazing array of shades!

Color block nails are taking center stage right now, and we aren’t the least bit surprised. Aside from this trend being easy to do, skill wise, it’s also a nail art look we can do with nail colors you may already have at home. If you need more colors, there’s a whole lot to choose from at www.calyxta.com where #ProudlyLocal brand, Girlstuff, is now finally available. But first, here’s a general guide on how you can successfully pull off nail art on your own:

Prepare your base. File your nails and push your cuticles back. Use a protective base coat, then use a preferred shade as your base color (if applicable). White is always a good hue for a base. Girlstuff Solique’s Anchor Grip Base Coat, P180 is a fave of ours because it provides a smooth surface that allows nail polish to adhere properly. Another great plus? It prevents staining!

Apply tape on the nail to create sections. Place tape on the middle of the nail, parting two sections diagonally—or wherever you’d like the design to go.

Paint the sections. Select two vibrant colors you feel go well together such as navy blue and a hot pink hue. Our picks? SoliqueXAgoo’s Posse and Smitten shades, P180 each.

Remove the tape. Slowly pull off the tape while your nails are still wet. Clean up the edges. Dip an angled brush or cotton swab in acetone, and slowly remove excess polish from the edges of your nails.

Apply a topcoat. Be sure to wait a few minutes for the polishes to dry, because you don’t want the colors to run. Girlstuff Solique Gel Top Coat, P200
